6th Grade Science

Monday - No School - Memorial Day!

HW - Have a nice day.

Tuesday - Time to finish the book notes for the Earth Movement project in Outline Format.

I will begin to score the textbook notes, everyone has to do them. Here's how I will score them:
6 to 8 pgs in outline format = A
4 to 6 pgs in outline format = B
2 to 4 pgs in outline format = C
4 to 6 pgs NOT in outline format = C

This grading scale is based on having had four days (5/20, 21, 22 & 27), 40 minutes a day, to read, summarize and take the notes. Two pages of notes per day is considered excellent work.

HW - Research your topic at home for extra info or make-up any missing work from weeks 1 to 5. Use the Earth Movement webpage to conduct research at home (I'm out of extra books because the other grade levels are using them too). Notes need to be in outline format.

Wednesday - Today we will block the Wyatt and Meacham classes. Their goal is to finish taking notes off of the Internet and to begin storyboarding their website. To do that, they will need to use the earthquake and volcano information they have plotted to answer the Earth Movement questions.

I will begin to score the Internet notes today. In each group, the recorder is responsible for writing what the other team members dictate. Here's how I will score them:
2 to 3 pgs in outline format = A
1 to 2 pgs in outline format = B
2 to 3 pgs NOT in outline format = B
1 to 2 pgs NOT in outline format = C

This grading scale is based on team effort. If teams work together, they can sift through the websites I've found for them and summarize the information for the recorder.

Thursday - Today is Trading Post day! Parents please come by to enjoy the arts, crafts and food!
