6th grade Science:

Monday - Note: I have 6th grade Science 1st, 5th, and 6th periods. The way that is working out is that I start the day's lesson with 5th and 6th period so that means 1st period will usually be one day behind. I wanted to mention that so that parents don't get upset if their 1st period child seems one day behind! Sorry for the confusion.

Today we need to work on peer editing in the form of feedback given by leaving comments on each other’s blogs. We will review and practice how to leave useful feedback so that students can help each other and become better at assessing each other’s, and thereby their own, work.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today we will begin EMM lesson 6 on the Force of Friction. Students will have some time to check the feedback they got from their peers to make any edits to improve their blogs or their learning.

HW - None

Wednesday - We are still working on lesson 6, Inquiry 6.1, which is the first lab in an three lab series to investigate friction.

HW - None

Thursday - We are continuing to work on lesson 6. Teams should be finished with Inquiry 6.1 by today.

HW - None

Friday - Today teams will either finish Inquiry 6.1 or work on the Week 8 blogging challenge, or both.

HW - None

8th grade Science:

Monday - Today we will practice the skill of peer editing so that students can leave better feedback when they comment on each other’s blog posts.

Then students will spend the rest of the period reading and peer editing each other’s work. Students will then need to spend time reading the comments they get and responding.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today we will start learning about snails. Students will begin by posting a blog listing what they know, or think they know, about snails and what they want to know about snails.

Then they will begin planning investigations to do with their snails to learn more about them. Students will research the land snail in particular to figure out some good experiments.

HW - None

Wednesday - Teams are continuing to research snails to get enough information to design an experiment using live snails.

Once teams have teacher approval they just need to bring what they need to begin their experiments.

HW - Bring the materials you will need to conduct your experiment.

Thursday - Third period is taking their Reading MSP online assessment today.

Fourth period is still working on designing their experiments to get them approved by me.

HW - Bring the materials you will need to conduct your experiment.

Friday - The goal for today is to start collecting data by following their plan and procedure for the experiment with the Land Snail.
