Introduction

Have you ever wondered why droplets form on the outside of your cold glass of water? Have you wondered why there are clouds in the sky or why it rains? Take a look at the earth’s water cycle and find out!

Task

Your task is to review and/or learn about the WATER CYCLE.

Process

Part 1 – Cycle Overview

There are several important parts to the water cycle. Watch this video to learn about how they work together to make one complete cycle.

Watch the cycle in action!

Part 2 – Deeper Look

Look at each main part of the water cycle. Click on all the 7 different parts. Record the definitions on your research log sheet.

Evaporation Water Vapor Precipitation

Transpiration Condensation Energy Ground Water

Part 3 – Conservation

Did you know that only 1% of the earth’s water is drinkable?

Take this virtual home tour and find all of the ways you can conserve energy.

Then try this: Water Conservation Around House!

Then try this: Acid Lake!

Conclusion

Water has many different stages it can go through, changing it from a solid, to a liquid, to a gas. These stages mean water has been going around and around in the water cycle for a long time - the earth is full of water that has been around for thousands of years. It is important to share our knowledge of the water cycle as well as try our best to conserve water so it can still be on earth for thousands more years.
