Marilyn Monroe is one of the most famous American film actress of all time, altough she only made a small number of films. Her proffesional name was Marilyn Monroe but her birth name is Norma Jeane. Marilyn Monroe ended up killing herself due to film-world pressure.
In private life, Monroe was married to the baseball player,Joe Dimaggio and later to the playwright Arthur Miller. Arthur Miller was the one who helped Monroe make movies. Marilyn liked to do some comidy. Two of her early comidies were"How to Marry A Millionaire(1953) and the Seven Year Itch(1955). Marilyn Monroe also played more serious roles in such films as Bus Stop(1956) and the Misfits(1961) in which Arthur Miller, her husband at the time, wrote for her. Her first starring role was in Gentlemen prefer Blondes(1953). Marilyn was famous for her looks and her movies. Due to her mothers mental dissabilities and the fact that she was unmarried at the time,Norma Jeane was placed in a foster home of Albert and Ida Bolender. It was here that she lived the first seven years of her life. In 1933 Norma Jeane lived briefly with her mother. Glady's began to show mental depression and in 1934 she was admitted to a rest home in Sant Monica. Grace Mckee, a close friend of her mother, took over the care of Norma Jeane. Grace was to marry in 1935 and due to financial difficulties, Norma Jeane was placed in an orphanage from September 1935 to June 1937. Grace frequently visited Norma Jeane taking her to the movies, buying her clothes, and teaching her how to apply makeup at her a young age. In September 1941, Norma Jeane was again living with Grace when she met Jim Dougherty,5 years her senior. Grace encouraged the relationship and on learning that she and her husband would be moving to the east coast, set in motion plans for Norma Jeane to marry Dougherty on June 19, 1942. After a year of marriage,Dougherty joined the Merchant Marines and in 1944 Jim was sent overseas. Norma Jeane began working in a parachute factory for some extra money, and was photographed by the army as a promotion to show women on the assembly line contributing to the war effort. One of the photographers,David Conover, asked to take further pictures of her. By spring of 1945,she was quickly becoming known as the "MMMMMM Girl" and has appeared on 33 covers of national magazines. After 2 years of having only letters, phone calls, and the occasional visit to keep in touch, the couple grew apart. They hardly spoke to each other, and in 1944,they divorced. Marilyn wasn't the first platinum blonde to strike it big in Hollywood, but she had a glow and energy that was unmatched by any other personality. The voluptuous curves of her body and her wide-eyed girlish gigggles dominated every presence, as did her later rapturous pose of half-lidded eyes and a mega-smile that dripped with seduction for every camera to see. Her movies planted the characters she would learn to live by throughout her career; her on screen rolls paralleled the role she played off-screen. From Gentlemen Pre-fer Blondes in 1953 to Some Like It Hot in 1959, Marilyn was the silver screen diva of desire. While her life began rather simply as Norma Jeane Baker, modeling in her late teens proved that she had a face cameras loved. Her entire being lived fo the lens, and her acting skills were much more proficient than one might have guessed for a women with so much appeal. If living for the camera was an integral part of her life, so to was a deep dread of the camera. Although always composed and seemingly in control,Marilyn often feared the public. This was understandable, particulary in the later years of her life, with encreased expectations. In the end, HollyWoods most lusious bombshell died of suicide at the early age of 36. Marilyn's favorite colors were beige, black, white and red. Her favorite perfume was Chanel No. 5 and her favorite singer was Frank Sinatra. Her famous quote was: Hold a good thought for me! Diamonds are a girls best friend! (It has now been proven that Marilyn and Frank Sinatra had an affair!!!! )
