Mr. González' Classes Homework/Daily Activities Week 1, 11/11 to 11/15 (This may change from day to day depending on how much we actually get done in class so check back often to make sure something wasn't changed at the last minute.) 6th Grade Science Monday - Veteran's Day - No school today. HW - None Tuesday - Students will work this week on their Chimacum Creek water quality websites. Students must start by finishing their storyboards first, then they may work on their websites. Here are the Requirements for this project. HW - Storyboard grades will be part of students' second quarter grades. The water quality notes will be their first set of grades for second quarter. If a student lost the notes or doesn't have enough, he or she will have to make the notes up for homework. Students can use the websites, the book (check one out), encyclopedia, or the library. Wednesday - Students will work this week on their Chimacum Creek water quality websites. Here are the Requirements for this project. HW - None, students are working in their cooperative groups, in class. Thursday - Students will work this week on their Chimacum Creek water quality websites. Here are the Requirements for this project. HW - None, students are working in their cooperative groups, in class. Friday - Students will work this week on their Chimacum Creek water quality websites. Here are the Requirements for this project. I will gauge how well students are progressing to decide when they need to finish. I was hoping for Friday next week as the deadline. HW - None, students are working in their cooperative groups, in class.   8th Grade Computers 2 This week: Class intro PowerPoint presentation. Students will receive a class syllabus with a permission form on the other side. Parents must sign permission form and return by Wednesday. Then students will choose teams. To practice, students will choose temporary topics (final projects must be educational!). Students will create computer generated and hand-drawn art for their projects, then begin storyboarding their websites. Creating websites is a great way to showcase work for an electronic portfolio. Chimacum High School will have students create portfolios, including electronic portfolios. If students have computer generated artwork for an electronic portfolio, they can burn it on a CD. Just have your child bring a blank CD to school (if a rewritable CD is used, then students can keep adding to it). Plan for the week: Tues - Intro to Comp 2 PowerPoint Presentation. Choose teams. Wed - In teams, choose a practice topic (can be anything at all, as long as it's school appropriate). Begin researching your topic using the Internet. Thurs - Show Inspiration so that students can use it to plan their practice website. Continue researching topic and getting notes and/or ideas. Fri - Continue researching topic and using Inspiration (using Inspiration is optional but highly recommended - it is a great planning tool). Email me if you have any questions or concerns.
