6th Grade Science
Monday -
Today we will continue our
study of Randomness with a Random Walk activity. The students
generated graphs that weren't in a bell shaped curve because we
altered a variable. When shown with all the possible outcomes,
the bell shaped curve came out every time. As with Friday's activity,
the more trials the more bell shape the curve had.
HW - None
Tuesday -
Today we concluded our Randomness
study with a final Random Walk using phone numbers. The results
were all over the place so were inconclusive.
We also created
a Fractal Park Island. Click
here for instructions to finish and/or do it.
HW - Finish
the Fractal Park Island (color it to add trees, mountains, beaches
and the ocean.)
Wednesday
- Today
we will define what a tree is mathematically. Then we will look
at different "trees" to see what a binary tree is, what
a ternary is and what trees fall into the other category. Then
we will see how trees are combinatorially equivalent or non-equivalent.
HW - None
Thursday
- Today we will do a
node count activity, then we will begin a geometric description
of trees activity.
HW - None
Friday -
Today we will work on
our geometric description of trees activity.
HW - Next week
is Spring Break, 3/31 to 4/4, so have a great break and see
you all on Monday, 4/7!
