The Basics

    1. Starting a new document.
      1. Launch PowerPoint (ppt).
      2. It starts with a blank document, which is what you want, so click okay.
      3. Choose your first slide type, usually title slide, which is what it's on, so click okay.
      4. Type your information in first, format later!
    2. Saving properly.
      1. Make sure you are saving to your folder.
      2. Title it well and keep the .ppt at the end.
    3. Adding more slides (Insert, New Slide or click on the New Slide button).

    5. Once all your slides are typed with the correct information, begin formatting.
    6. Choosing a background (one background style for the whole show). You can have a different background for each slide but it takes too long and is not recommended.
    7. Adding Word Art.
    8. Adding clip art and/or pictures (scanned or off the web).
    9. Adding movies and/or sounds.
    10. Animating your slide show.
    11. Adding transitions to your slides.
      1. Slide view and organizing or reorganizing the slides.
    12. You do not need to add buttons that link to your slides, but you can add links to websites.
    13. View your show to practice, button vs Slideshow, View Show. Know that escape key stops your show.
