History of Flight Activity

Flying dude.

  • You will begin by visiting The Four Forces of Flight's History of Flight section.
  • Read each section, each person in the group (except the recorder) should read at least one section.
  • Keep clicking on NEXT to get to the following page.
  • Have your recorder write down the following questions and to take notes on the answers (everyone in the group EXCEPT the recorder must answer some questions and everyone must listen to all the answers; have a group discussion):
    1. What do think about flight? Each person share experiences or ideas about flying?
    2. Did Leonardo da Vinci know about gliders or just flapping machines? Explain your answer.
    3. How long did it take before Leonardo's notes on mechanical flight were read?
    4. Why was Sir George Cayley considered the Father of Aviation?
