Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 4, 11/29 to 12/3

Math Monday - Today we will clean out math binders, I will collect the Data About Us book, I will pass out the Prime Time books, and we will start Investigation 1 with the Factor Game! Today I also handed out and discussed the following: Class Discussion Sentence Starters and Group and Class Discussion Expectations. HW - None, unless you can play the factor game with someone (or against the online computer) at home. Tuesday - Today we will begin Investigation 1.1 with problem 1.1 (playing the factor game some more trying to make the best strategy). I also passed out and discussed the following: Guidelines for Group Work. HW - Take the parent letter home and give it to your parents. ACE #'s 1-9 and 14. Wednesday - Today we will continue to work on problem 1.1 as students come up with strategies. HW - Choose your Special Number for the Unit Project, p. 5. Students have as much time as it takes to finish the Prime Time book and I gave them all a rubric to give them ideas of how to get as many points as possible on this project. Students can create a poster or write a report. This entire project should be done at home by students (as we work through the Investigations in the book, students will get ideas for their project). Thursday - Today we worked on problem 1.2. HW - ACE #'s 10-13 and 15-16. I suggested to students today that they should be half way done with this project by the time we start working on Investigation 4. By the time we start working on Investigation 5, they should be start finishing their project because we will be skipping Investigation 6. Friday - Today we will check last night's homework. HW - None

Science Monday - Students will continue to take notes on their specific, team topics from the websites I have found for them on my science webpage. HW - None Tuesday - Students will continue to take notes on their specific, team topics from the websites I have found for them on my science webpage. HW - None Wednesday - Students will continue to take notes on their specific, team topics from the websites I have found for them on my science webpage. I shared with all students last year's water quality websites to show them what is expected and what 6th graders are capable of doing. I tell my new 6th graders every year that I expect them to do their websites just a little bit better. You too can see past year's student works by clicking on the student work bubble on the left. HW - None Thursday - We skipped science today because problem 1.2 took way too long. We also skipped SSR (Student Tech Corps took long also because next week we have to do the testing!).   HW - None Friday - Today I showed students how to write-up their labs. We went carefully and step-by-step over the lab write-up sheet and I answered questions and made sure students understood how to write-up a lab. I also showed students how the scoring rubric works for lab write-ups. Then students began writing up their water quality labs. Most groups got through the problem and the hypothesis and some groups even started recording their experimental procedure. HW - None

Language Arts Monday - Students will continue to work on their Cispus Websites. HW - None Tuesday - Students will continue to work on their Cispus Websites. HW - None Wednesday - Students will continue to work on their Cispus Websites. HW - None Thursday - Students will continue to work on their Cispus Websites. HW - None Friday - We skipped working on our Cispus websites today. Instead I showed students how to have Presentation Power! HW - None

Social Studies Monday - Students will continue to gather information for their Maya/Aztec/Inca WebQuest as we watch a video on the Olmecs, Toltecs, Maya, Aztecs and Inca. HW - None Tuesday - Today we will have our weekly Second Step lesson. HW - None Wednesday - Today we are going to finish watching the Maya, Aztec and Inca video. HW - None Thursday - Students will continue to gather information for their Maya/Aztec/Inca WebQuest. HW - None Friday - Library Day! HW - Give your parents the Market Day Info Letter so they know what is expected.
