Math

Monday - No School - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
HW - None
Tuesday - Today we will begin Investigation 5 with problem 5.1.
HW - ACE #'s 16, 17 and 19 on pp. 53 and 54.
Wednesday - Today we will work on problem 5.2 and correct the homework.
HW - ACE #'s 1-6 and 11-15, p. 52 to 53.
Thursday - We will correct last night's homework and begin 5.3.
HW - ACE #'s 23 and 24 page 55.
Friday - Today students will practice using the divisibility rules.
I will have a substitute today because I have a science training to attend in Port Angeles.

Science

Monday - No School - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Tuesday - By today teams should be starting to create their water quality websites or at least continue to work on, and start to score, their storyboards.
HW - None
Wednesday - Work on the water quality storyboards.
HW - None
Thursday - Today we will test our creek water for the presence of fecal coliform bacteria again using a different experiment. Everyone will get to participate.
Today we will set the experiment up, then we will work on the water quality storyboards.
HW - None
Friday - We will finish the experiment we set up yesterday. Then we will work on the water quality storyboards. Those teams that are ready will begin their websites. On the button bar at the left, click on Student Work to see the water quality webites of former 6th grade students.

Language Arts

Monday - No School - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
HW - None
Tuesday - Students will review our cooperative group jobs as they choose team jobs. We also reviewed summarizing vs paraphrasing in regards to the recorder's job in a team and taking notes. We then had a lesson on changing a question into the answer (this is to help students review how to write full and complete sentences).
HW - We didn't finish all the questions on lesson 28 so the homework tonight is to finish those.
Wednesday - Today we will go indepth into researching.

Thursday - Today we will continue to work on researching. Students will be asked to come up with a question to research on their own. The question should be small enough to answer in a page or two. We will use the The Research Organizer to accomplish this task along with the Cyberguide Rating Form (a pdf file) to evaluate the resource used to get the information.

Notes: Wed, 1/26/05
First Draft: Fri, 1/28/05
Final Draft: Wed, 2/2/05

HW - Students might need help on this research project.
Friday - Today we will continue to work on researching. Students will work on their own research topic. using the The Research Organizer to accomplish this task along with the Cyberguide Rating Form (a pdf file) to evaluate the resource(s) used to get the information.

Tuesday - Students should be finishing up their Maya/Aztec/Inca WebQuest PowerPoint presentations.

Wednesday - Students should be getting ready to present their Maya/Aztec/Inca WebQuest PowerPoint presentations.

Thursday - Today students worked on getting their PowerPoints done and getting their notecards written.
HW - None
Friday - Today students will get to put some finishing touches on their PowerPoints and their notecards to begin presenting on Monday. Monday's presentations will be just for practice and not for a grade.
