Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 1, 1/31 to 2/4

Math Monday - Today we will score the Prime Time final test (we also need to have several kids actually take the test). I will also give students lotto tickets for their second quarter final grades. Final grades will be handed out during 5th period. HW - If your Special Number project isn't done yet, it's due this week. Tuesday - I will collect the Prime Time books and pass out the new books, Covering and Surrounding (area and perimeter). I will pass out the new unit organizer and learning targets as we clear our binders of Prime Time work. HW - Do the Special Number project. Wednesday - Today I will return the Prime Time final tests so that students can fix them and get a better grade. Yesterday Marilyn couldn't come in for Second Step so we rescheduled it for today during math. HW - Special Number project and redo any of the problems you got wrong on the test. Use the Math Corrections sheet. Thursday - We will begin working in our new book with problem  1.1 p. 6. HW - ACE #1, p. 13. Friday - We had P.E. today so the plan was to correct last night's homework. I couldn't do that because too many students did not do their homework. HW - Finish last night's homework, correcting the test, or the Special Number project if you have not already done so.

Science Monday - Today we will work on our water quality storyboards so that teams can begin to work on their water quality websites. HW - On the button bar at the left, click on Student Work to see the water quality webites of former 6th grade students. Tuesday - Today we will work on the water quality websites. HW - None Wednesday - Today we will work on the water quality websites. HW - None Thursday - Today we will work on the water quality websites. HW - None Friday - Today we will work on the water quality websites. HW - None

Language Arts Monday - Today we will continue to work on Big6 research reports. Here are the updated deadlines (it's taking longer than we anticipated): Big6 Steps 1-5: Mon, 1/31/05 Notes: Fri, 2/4/05 First Draft: Tues, 2/8/05 Final Draft: Wed, 2/9/05 I will also take some time to give students their final second quarter progress reports along with old work. Students will get class money for their second quarter grades. HW - Study for the spelling bee! Tuesday - Today we will have a practice spelling bee. Final spelling bee to choose our class representatives for the school-wide spelling bee will be held tomorrow. Today I plan to start having students keep track of how much they read every week with a reading log. Parents, make sure you sign these and that your child turns them in every Friday. HW - Study for the spelling bee! Keep track of your reading for the reading log. Wednesday - Today we worked on the social studies Powerpoint presentations. HW - Study your spelling words. Thursday - Class Spelling Bee!! In first place we have Cali with Nicole as the runner up! Congratulations and good luck girls!! HW - Reading log due tomorrow! Friday - Today we will continue to work on Big6 research reports. HW - Only three students turned in their reading logs, so those who did not turn their logs in need to do so by Monday.

Social Studies Monday - Today students will do a practice presentation for feedback only (Maya/Aztec/Inca webquest). We got through groups G1 and G2. HW - Prep for your presentation. Tuesday - Second Step had to be cancelled today so we saw groups G3 and G7 present. HW - None Wednesday - Today we will start with group G4 and try to finish the practice presentations. We got through groups G4, G5, G6, and G8. HW - Prep for your presentation. Thursday - Today we will have groups G9 and G10 do their practice presentations. HW - None Friday - Today we will start the final presentations. These are for a grade (Maya/Aztec/Inca webquest). Groups G1, G2, G3 and G4 presented and they all did a great job! HW - Groups G5 through G10, learn your parts.
