Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 4, 5/2 to 5/6

Math (2nd per) Monday - We will take a moment to check the Covering and Surrounding Learning Targets. Then we will begin Bits & Pieces I. I will pass out the books and the Unit Organizer. We will try to complete Problems 1.1 and 1.2 starting on page 5. HW - ACE #26, p. 17. Tuesday - We will finish problem 1.2 and then we will correct yesterday's homework. HW - None today. Wednesday - Problem 1.3, p. 8. HW - ACE #'s 13 to 25, p. 16. Thursday - We will work on problem 1.5, p. 12, today (we will skip 1.4). I will start by correcting yesterday's homework. Then we will proceed to problem 1.5. HW - ACE #'s 1 - 7, p. 14. Friday - Today we will work on problem 2.1, p. 19. HW - None Future plans: This week we are starting Bits & Pieces I finally! We will try to get a far as we can in this book by the end of the year.

Social Studies (3rd per) Monday - We will continue to work on Phase 2 of our Canadian Vacation project where student teams will pretend to be a travel agency. They will create a PowerPoint presentation to showcase their Provinces and/or Territories. HW - None Tuesday - Canadian Vacation project Phase 2 cont'd. HW - Know your part of the presentation (in other words, know your province). Wednesday - Canadian Vacation project Phase 2 cont'd. HW - Know your part of the presentation (in other words, know your province). Thursday - Canadian Vacation project Phase 2 cont'd. HW - Know your part of the presentation (in other words, know your province). Friday - Canadian Vacation project Phase 2 cont'd. HW - Prepare for your presentation on Monday. Future plans: This week will finish the PowerPoints and my class will present with Ms. Langston's class. We will try to finish by this week.

Science (5th per) Monday - Today we will finish discussing EMM lesson 5.1. Then we will begin planning lesson 5.2 with a Designing an Experiment Sheet. At 1:30pm we will have our library day. HW - None Tuesday - Today we will continue to work on EMM 5.2. As students finish designing their experiment, they will get materials to actually do their experiment and complete the Lab Write-Up sheet. HW - Many students didn't have time to finish filling out their Designing an Experiment Sheet, doing the lab, and then filling out the Lab Write-Up sheet and making the table and graph. Whatever was not finished in class is homework today. I also handed out copies of the Reading Log for the week. The log is due Friday as always and this one is the week 2 log (I didn't require it during the last two WASL weeks). Wednesday - We will start lesson 6 today. HW - None Thursday - Project Alert with Heidi Dodd. We will finish lesson 6 today. HW - Kids have to finish EMM lesson 5.2 and all of lesson 6 if they did not finish in class. Heidi also assigned some homework today where students are to present to you, their parents. Should be good :o) And, of course Reading Logs are due tomorrow as well. Friday - Today we worked on EMM lesson 7. Students got to test their equipment and experiment with the different variables. HW - None Future plans: We are continuing to work through the Energy, Machines, and Motion (EMM) unit. We will get as far as we can this quarter. By June I will ask the principal if we can purchase the kit for next year. My class will be able to let the principal know how much they enjoyed this kit.

Language Arts (6th per) We are still blocking Language Arts with Science. Future plans: We are doing our reading, summarizing, discussing, using reading strategies, and writing in science. That is why we are taking two periods to do science.
