Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 9, 6/6 to 6/10

Math (2nd per) Monday - Today I will return the corrected quizzes. Students who got an 18 or less were required to make up their quiz, but I curved the scores a bit and now only those with a 15 or less will have to make up their quiz (those that got B's or C's have the option to make up their quiz but they do not have to). The make up for this quiz is a little different than the make up for previous quizzes. Instead of explaining why they got a problem wrong, they need to create a new one and solve it and get the correct answer. Today I will have my second and final class auction where students can spend all the class money they have earned this year. I will be auctioning off free homework coupons, make a zero disappear coupons, as well as a couple of water quality DVD's and CD's (I only auctioned three DVD's and three CD's with printed labels. Every student who didn't get one of the six I auctioned did receive a free water quality CD without a printed label). Then we will start Investigation 4 with problem 4.1 on page 39. HW - If you got a 15 or less on your quiz, you have to redo it at home. If you got a B or a C you have the option of making it up but you are not required to do so. Tuesday - Today is our track and field meet for the entire 6th grade. Parents of invited to come and join us (we could sure use your help). HW - None Wednesday - Today is our track and field meet for the entire 6th grade. Parents of invited to come and join us (we could sure use your help). HW - None Thursday - Today we will start viewing Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera! Students will compare and contrast the movie with the CD opera. Then we will finish problem 4.1 on page 40. HW - None, just make sure you have your last Reading log done along with any and all late or missing work (I will not accept any late or missing work next week). Friday - We will work on problem 4.2 on page 41 today after we check problem 4.1. HW - None Future plans: We will work through as much of Bits and Pieces 1 as we can.

Social Studies (3rd per) We will be blocking math and social studies for the rest of the year because we are done with our social studies unit and we are behind in math.

Science (5th per) Monday - Today students will finish EMM lesson 9. We had to redo lesson 9 because students, every single group in class, failed to read the instructions carefully and they neglected to calculate the force their motors used with the different numbers of batteries. After a while today, students began to find out that without force, you cannot calculate power! They needed to calculate power to answer the reflection questions. HW - Do your final Reading log of the year! Tuesday - Today we will do EMM lesson 10, the assessment for the Energy part of the kit. HW - None Wednesday - Today we have a special guest coming to teach us about Geocaching! HW - None Thursday - Today we will start part 2 of the EMM kit on Machines with lesson 11 on the inclined plane. HW - The last Reading log of the year is due tomorrow along with any and all late or missing work (I will not accept any late or missing work next week). Friday - Today we will finish EMM lesson 11. It took all block to get through lesson 11 and I had to get the kids through because many just stopped working. I know school's almost over, but they really wanted to get the later lessons because they look like a lot of fun. I'll do the best I can, but I am still going to require kids to actually get some work done. Yes, even next week. That's just my way. HW - None Future plans: We will work through as much of the EMM science kit as we can.

Language Arts (6th per) We are still blocking these two periods and combining Language Arts with Science. Reading logs are still due every Friday, which means that all students are still expected to read daily at home for a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes. I give students a copy of the  Reading log every Monday or at the latest Tuesday.
