Monday - Today
we will begin the earthquake data collection phase of our
Earth Movement project. Students will begin to research earthquakes as well.
Students will choose jobs
(volcanologists, geochronologist, or geologist - everyone
will get to be a seismologist as well).
HW - None
Tuesday - Today
students will have an HIV/AIDS presentation during science
from a guest speaker.
HW - None
Wednesday - Early
Release today for Eagle Night tonight!
Today students will start
collecting their Earthquake
Data Collection for earthquakes
that take place on or near the tectonic plate each team chose
or was assigned. That's about all we'll have time for.
HW - None
Thursday - For
the next week or so students will start class by checking
the
Earthquake site
to plot any new earthquakes in their region of the world. We
will look for patterns later on when we've collected enough data.
Today, after students had
some time to check for new earthquakes, I divided the class
into a volcanology group, a geography group, and a geochronology
group. Each group got a set of maps to start making direct
observations that they will later share with their small
teams. Each person in the small teams will be expert in one
of the above jobs.
HW - None
Friday - Check
Earthquake site
for new earthquakes.
Then students will meet in
their job groups. Students are making observations and trying
to find plate boundaries. Each job specialty is defining
plate boundaries with their own symbols and descriptions.
