Monday - Labor
Day - No School
HW - Get all your supplies,
get a good night's rest and be here bright and early for 1st
period (note that your zero period, Eagle Time, class is not
your 1st class - your 1st period class is the one you go to
first when the bell rings).
Tuesday - Today
I will welcome students to middle school Science with a powerpoint
presentation on Mt. Saint Helens (in preparation for our Cispus
trip).
Students will get a class
intro letter today to read at home with parents and get
signed (Cispus packet should come home today too so look
out for that one).
HW - Get your Science
packet signed by a parent
after reading through it with him or her. Also get started
on your Cispus packet as we need that paperwork back ASAP (the
yellow is yours to keep, the purple is due back by Monday,
Sept 8 at the latest, sooner is better, and the white one,
if needed, is due with meds by Monday, Sept 15).
Wednesday - Today
I will give students their yearly Informed
Consent Agreement form to use technology in our district.
We will go over proper use as well.
Today we will start setting
up our notebooks so that we can use them. Notebook setup includes
adding a table
of contents to
the back of the very first page, then adding a guidelines for scientific
drawings sheet on the back of the second page, followed
by the lab safety
contract when it's signed. Students will start numbering
their pages with page one on the fourth page in their notebook.
The front of the first page is for decoration (the theme of
the decoration is water in the form of fresh water rivers,
creeks, and streams.
HW - Same as Tuesday (for any
part that is not yet completed) and get your Informed
Consent Agreement read and signed.
Thursday - Today,
after we finish setting up our notebooks, students will begin
learning about volcanoes
and about Mt Saint Helens in particular in preparation
for our visit to the Johnston
Ridge Observatory on Tuesday, Sept 16.
HW - Same as Tuesday (for any
part that is not yet completed).
Friday - We
will continue to work on our volcanoes
and about Mt Saint Helens activity.
Students today got through
the first three volcano types (some did less and some did more).
HW - Finish reading and signing
any of the paperwork.
