Mr. González's Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 2, 9/8 to 9/12

6th grade Science: Monday - We will continue to work on our volcanoes and about Mt Saint Helens activity. This week students should finish their volcano drawings and descriptions and begin their lava drawings and descriptions. HW - Cispus permission slips and medical forms were due today. I am giving students of list of the Science paperwork they are missing if they are missing any. Tuesday - Today I asked students to get as much of their five volcano types done as possible so they could all start the section on the four lava types. Those that are NOT done with the five volcano types need to either come in to my room at lunch or after school to finish those. On occassion, students can take their notebooks home to finish work (I just don't want this to become a habit as often times notebooks are left home or lost). HW - Only homework is to finish any Cispus preparations so that you are ready to go on Tuesday the 16th. Wednesday - Today students can finish the four lava types. Those who are done can start the next section on Mt. Saint Helens. HW - Same as Tuesday Thursday - Today I will share some information and images about Mt. Saint Helens and other volcanoes. We will also review the volcano and lava types. HW - Same as Tuesday Friday - Today students will work on the Mt. Saint Helens section of my Mt. Saint Helens Activity webpage. HW - Same as Tuesday (feel free to bring your gear in on Monday so that it'll be here and ready to go Tuesday morning - and for Tuesday, just arrive at your regular time).

8th grade Science: Monday - Today students will start analyzing their data and writing their conclusions. Each team shared their data graph so we could compare results. HW - None unless I gave you a list of your missing paperwork. Here are the Inquiry Boards if you need them. Here is the Lab Write-Up Rubric if you need it. Tuesday - Today students worked on their conclusions. We shared conclusions as time permitted to practice scoring those. HW - None Wednesday - Today we will practice scoring the labs by having more students share their conclusions. Then 2nd period will score 4th period's lab write-ups, 4th period will score 5th period's lab write-ups, and 5th period will score 2nd period's lab write-ups. Students will use the following rubric. HW - None Thursday - Today I will give students time to begin their first blogging assignment where they will share what they did and what they learned from the vinegar and baking soda reaction lab. Students will also take a survey while taking turns working on their blog. HW - None Friday - I'm going to give students more time to complete their survey and their first blog assignment. Then I will introduce the biome project students will be working on next week. Today students may begin researching their biomes for the biome project if we have time. Student teams will be creating commercials of their biomes. HW - None
