Monday - Today students will calculate the densities of basalt (oceanic plate rock), granite (continental plate rock), and peridotite (mantle rock). We'll see what we can learn about the elevations of the continents and the oceans from this activity.
HW - Blogging!
Tuesday - Today we reviewed our rock densities data. Then we drew two different views of a piece of lithosphere.
HW - Same as Monday
Wednesday - Today we will answer a prompt about what we've learned about density, buoyancy and isostasy and apply it to how the crust floats on the upper mantle.
Then we watched Bill Nye the Science Guy's episode on Earth's Crust.
HW - Same as Monday
Thursday - Today we will start by reflecting on what we know about the lithosphere. Students shared their responses to a prompt.
Then we took our density post-test.
HW - Progress reports were handed out today so show them to your parents (2 points for getting them signed).
Friday - Today we corrected our density post-test.
Today we will begin the Earth Movement Project.
HW - Last chance to do anything to improve your grade and turn it in on Monday.
