Week 1, 3/16 to 3/20

(This may change from day to day depending on how much we actually get done in class so check back often to make sure something wasn't changed at the last minute.)

4th per - 11:36am to 12:28pm
5th per - 12:32pm to 1:24pm
6th per - 1:28pm to 2:20pm

6th grade Science:

Monday - Today I showed both classes the 6th period Water Quality Movie. Then I showed students how to evaluate their websites using a Website Evaluation tool I got off the Internet. It's what students are being taught to use so they can decide which websites are worth reading and using for research. Students will have this available to put into their portfolios.

Then I gave students a progress report showing their 2nd trimester grade and I was available to correct any errors or help them make any last minute changes or fixes.

HW - None, unless you haven't turned in your blog permission form.

Tuesday - Today I showed students how to set up their blog and how to complete their first assignment (to write about their water quality website and to make a link to it).

HW - Complete the first blog assignment.

Wednesday - Today we are going to go over how to leave comments on other students' blogs so that they can visit our water quality websites. I gave students time to leave some comments (well only those who have actually completed their first assignment).

Then we will begin to set up our new notebooks with table of contents and everything. Today we will have a new seating chart, too.

Thursday - Today I will give students a little more time to complete their notebook setup then we will begin our Energy, Machines, and Motion unit with a KWL (what you Know, what you Want to learn, and finally what you Learned - done after lesson 4) on batteries from lesson 2.

Afterward we will begin lesson 2.

Friday - Today students will do the lesson 2 lab where they will make their own battery out of zinc and copper strips put in copper sulfate solution. This will help us understand how batteries work.

8th grade Science:

Monday - Today students will continue to work on the Earth Movement Project project by finishing up their plate boundary type sheets.

Then I gave students a classification sheet to start defining the boundary types for their plate.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today students finished their boundary type sheets and their classification sheet in preparation to present their findings to the class tomorrow. In 5th period the Eurasian Plate group was ready to present so they started today.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today teams will present their findings to their class. Then I will have students draw arrows to show where they think the plates are moving.

HW - None

Thursday - Today will continue with presentations as plate teams share information and data about their boundary types.

HW - None

Friday - Today, when all the plate teams finish sharing their findings, they will draw arrows to show which directions they think the plates are moving. They will share that too then we'll look at actual maps showing plate movement to see how accurate they were.

HW - None
