Learn and ServeWhat we got with
the Learn & Serve America Grant
Year 2

The $14,037 from Year 2 (2004-2005) was spent on the following (a lot was for software):

This Dell Dimension 2400 was purchased to run the ArcGIS 9.1 software.

We got 11 copies of Final Cut Express so that each group can use it on their own computer.

DVD Studio Pro will be used to create our famous DVD's!

Peak will be used to add music to our websites and/or movies. With this program we can use parts of a song instead of needing the whole thing, which is usually a rather large file.

FileMaker Pro is a great database program.

With QuickTime VR we can create 360 degree panoramic pictures for our websites!

With FileMaker Server we can put our database on the web for others to view and/or add their own data!

Ten compasses.

Eight more Sport Trak Map handheld GPS's. (Am working towards one per group).

Five Palm M515 handheld computers to use with...

Five Vernier LabPro sensor interface and some new probes.

Here's how the Vernier sensor interface works with the LabPro and the probes. We purchases a new D.O., pH, and Conductivity probes and a motion sensor.

An HP All-in-One so that we can scan original student artwork.

The CD/DVD label printer I purchased last year was awful, it didn't work very well, so I purchased the Epson R300 and it works great. I also purchased five extra ink cartridges (black and color) for both printers. I also purchased some toner and fuser oil for our QMS Magicolor 2 color laser printer.

We got more blank CD's and DVD's to burn our movies and pictures.

And more cases for the CD's and DVD's.

I also bought a 256MB pen drive so that the team that took pictures can copy the files to the other teams' computers easily. And I got some AAA and AA batteries for the Lab Pro, and the GPS units because I'm running out of the AAA and AA batteries I bought with earlier grants. I also had to fork out $500 to fix the projection device I bought last year. Yep, it was dropped (and not by me!).
