Jobs:

Film crews: Film the entire process, documentary style. Film in class labs as well. Take still digital photos of the entire process. Edit the footage to create a news show documenting the study. Each group will create their own 5-minute footage of their experiments and/or tests. Teams will be paired off to help each other film in the following order:

1 and 10
2 and 9
3 and 8
4 and 7
5 and 6

Macroinvertebrate Sampling group: Three students in each class (team 1) will work with the Benthic Index of Biological Integrity by collecting samples of bugs that will be sent to a lab. We will get to keep one sample to study and classify the bugs ourselves.

Water kit crew: A few groups of kids will conduct water quality tests such as dissolved oxygen (3 students - team 2), pH and Nitrates (2 students - team 3), hardness (2 students - team 4), and carbon dioxide (2 students - team 5) by direct titrations.

Water probes crew: Some kids will be using the Palm IIIc with the Vernier probes to conduct dissolved oxygen and flow rate (3 students - team 6), pH and air pressure (2 students - team 7), temperature and turbidity (2 students - team 8), and conductivity and relative humidity (2 students - team 9).

Fecal Coliform Bacteria: Some students will test the water for the presence of fecal coliform bacteria (3 students - team 10).
