Corophium (family Corophiidae) are unique amphipods whose second antennae are dramatically modified into long, leg-like appendages. They are longer in males than in females. Corophium are mostly collected near the saltwater/freshwater interfaces that are directly affected by ocean tides. However, they have been collected in the Snake River, far away from saltwater influence.
