6th Grade Science
Monday -
Today we will start by reviewing the cooperative
group strategies that we need
to get along and complete work successfully. Then we will work on finishing
our water quality notes.
Once students are finished learning what their data means, they
will prepare a short presentation to share what they have learned
with their class. This way, we can all learn from each other
and get a better understanding of the water quality of Chimacum
Creek.
The deadline
for the short presentation will be Thursday and Friday, January
15 and 16. That gives students six class periods to finish
their notes.
HW - For those
who missed Science on Thursday or Friday before Winter
Break, you will need to do Extra
Credit to make up the
labs you missed.
Tuesday -
No School - Snow Day.
HW - Enjoy the snow.
Wednesday
- Today we had
a two-hour late start due to the weather. I did not meet with Ms.
Langston's or Mr. Olafson's classes. I did meet with Mr. Meacham's
and Ms. Cortez' classes in the computer lab because Mr. Olafson's,
Ms. Langston's and my classroom were all flooded due to a fire
suppression pipe bursting over Mr. Olafson's class. Thousands of
gallons of water inundated Mr. Olafson's and Ms. Langston's classes.
Had Mr. Olafson not been there at 6:45am that morning when the
water broke through the ceiling, more of the middle would have
been flooded. As it were, the water only reached part of Ms. Cortez'
classroom and most of mine. My room got flooded but the only damage,
luckily for me, was to the carpet.
Mr.
Olafson
and
Ms.
Langston
were
not
so
lucky.
All
three
of us are being relocated and I am now teaching from room 408.

Thursday
(Block Schedule for Langston and Meacham) - Today
we will work on learning how to write-up our labs. Students will
use Chimacum's Lab Write-Up template and
write up their labs. The labs will be scored using the Lab
Write-Up Rubric by students in other classes.
If time permits,
students will be able to work on their notes for next week.
HW - None unless you are behind
and need to make-up work.
