Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 9, 11/1 to 11/5

Math Monday - I would like to start with a quick review of investigations 1, 2 and 4 so that I can give a test tomorrow. Then we should be starting Investigation 5 with problem 5.1. I'm a little worried because this problem calls for the use of manipulatives and it has been hard enough to get students to work with pencil and paper as it is. I will give it a try and would welcome any parent help if you could come in and work with us. I could use some more eyes in the room so that we don't lose any of the cubes. HW - Study for tomorrow's test. Tuesday - Today we will have an Investigation 1 and 2 test to see where students are after our first quarter. HW - None Wednesday - We will continue working on problem 5.1 and 5.2 (we actually finished all of 5.1 and 5.2!). I am seeing some improvements in behavior! Tell your child to keep up the good work. HW - ACE #'s 1 and 2, p. 62 (this one is real easy). Thursday - Today we will check ACE 1 and 2, then we will begin problem 5.3. HW - ACE #'s 3 and 4, pp. 62 and 63. I told kids that there was a trick question there and it's number 4. I hope they can figure it out. Friday - Today we will check ACE 3 & 4, finish problem 5.3 and work on 5.3 Follow-Up. HW - None

Science Monday - We're giving up science again for Second Step.This is okay, because we will be blocking science later this week to work on the Water Quality project. HW - None Tuesday - We will learn how to make papel picado paper banners today. HW - None Wednesday - As students take notes on Ch 12, sections 1 and 3, I will continue to train them on their jobs (the probes kids learned how to use the Palm m515's with the lab pro interface using the Data Pro software program). HW - None Thursday - Today students will have P.E. with Mr. Olafson. HW - None Friday - As students take notes on Ch 12, sections 1 and 3, I will continue to train them on their jobs (today I will show the probes kids how to use the Palm IIIc's with the Imagiworks interface using the Imagiprobe software - this one is more difficult to use). HW - None

Language Arts Monday - I will be collecting the Giver alternate endings. I had to go past the deadline enough as it is and we have to work on the Day of the Dead simulation and that essay so I have to end The Giver essay. HW - None Tuesday - Today I have to give students more time to finish their Day of the Dead essays. There are still about 70% of students who haven't finished it even though we started working on it last Tuesday, worked on it everyday, and every night the homework was to finish what you didn't finish in class. HW - None Wednesday - Dreamweaver Lesson 1. HW - None Thursday - Dreamweaver Lesson 2. HW - None Friday - Dreamweaver Lesson 3. HW - None

Social Studies Monday - This is the first día de los muertos also known as día de los angelitos (day of the little angels) where departed children are remembered and honored! Today is also All Saints Day. We will work on decorations today during second period and during 5th period because Second Step will take place during 6th period today. Well, I need to amend that plan because many students were still way behind on their Days of the Dead compare and contrast essays. Today those that aren't done with their essays will work on them while those that are done with their essays will make decorations. HW - Bring whatever your family agreed to bring for tomorrow's simulation. Tuesday - This is the second día de los muertos the day to remember and honor dearly departed adults, All Souls Day and Election Day! Today we will have our días de los muertos celebration/simulation. If anyone still has not finished the Days of the Dead essay he or she will have to finish it during our simulation. HW - None Wednesday - It took a long time but we finally finished most of our Days of the Dead essays and we scored those for Organization, Ideas & Content, and Word Choice. Today we are going to start scoring them for the actual content to see if kids really learned about Days of the Dead and Halloween. HW - None Thursday -Today we will have a Pep Assembly in the gym. HW - None Friday - Today we began to watch a video titled, The Mayans. Students took notes using my Video Debrief sheet. HW - None
