Monday - This week we will have a representative from the North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) visit us to help students learn about benthic macroinvertebrates and how they help us determine the biological integrity of streams. We will also start taking trips down to the creek to start collecting data. I'll write down the specific days once I find out.
Students will also be working on the Water Cycle Webquest when we're not out on the field collecting data.
So today students will be working on parts 2 and 3 of the Water Cycle Webquest. While they are working on that I will train teams a few at a time on how to use their water quality testing equipment.
HW - Get your permission slip for Friday's field trip signed and turned in tomorrow!
Tuesday - Today Kai and Sarah from NOSC came in to teach our students about benthic macroinvertebrates and they came with samples of the bug right from our creek!
HW - See Monday
Wednesday - Veteran's Day - No School.

Thursday - Today students will finish the Water Cycle Webquest. I will continue to train students on how to use their equipment so that we can start collecting data on our creek.
Students will also continue learning about benthic macroinvertebrates with this cool activity called The Case of the Mysterious Macros. I want to follow-up on what they learned from Kai and Sarah.
HW - None
Friday - Today we will be going to the Grange to help Kai and Sarah from NOSC pull weeds. This is an important part of our study and service to Chimacum Creek. Students should be able to explain why pulling weeds helps our creek (if they were listening).
