The
Basics
- Starting a new document.
- Launch PowerPoint (ppt).
- It starts with a blank document, which is what you
want, so click okay.
- Choose your first slide type, usually title slide,
which is what it's on, so click okay.
- Type your information in first, format later!
- Saving properly.
- Make sure you are saving to your folder.
- Title it well and keep the .ppt at the end.
- Adding more slides (Insert, New Slide or click on the
New Slide button).
- Choose the slide type.
- Just bulleted items.
- Two column text with bullets.
- Bulleted items with clip art.
- Bulleted items with pictures.
- Charts and tables and the such are very specific.
Only use them if you need to use them. Most of the time you won't
need those.
- Once all your slides are typed with the correct information,
begin formatting.
- Choosing a background (one background style for the whole
show). You can have a different background for each slide but it takes
too long and is not recommended.
- Adding Word Art.
- Adding clip art and/or pictures (scanned or off the web).
- Adding movies and/or sounds.
- Animating your slide show.
- Adding transitions to your slides.
- Slide view and organizing or reorganizing the slides.
- You do not need to add buttons that link to your slides,
but you can add links to websites.
- View your show to practice, button vs Slideshow, View
Show. Know that escape key stops your show.
