Update

[Updated 1/18/07] We have about two weeks until the midterm so I thought I’d update parents and students on what should be done up to this point, week 5.

In 6th grade science students should have Energy, Machines, and Motion (EMM) lessons 6, 7, and 8 complete. I have gone over those lessons in class and I have shown students on the projection device what they need to have to get A’s. We have also started to work on lesson 9 and we will finish lesson 9 by the week of Jan 22. Thursday, Jan 18, and Friday, Jan 19, we will have our two-day unit assessment! Day one will consist of a lab where teams work together to accomplish a task and day 2 will be paper and pencil short answer and multiple choice questions.

In 7th grade science students should have their Floating Crayons lab completely written up. They also should have notes for all 11 Sink or Float websites. This week they are starting to practice their PowerPoint presentations. Once every team has had a chance to practice then we will cycle through all the teams again where they will present one more time for a final grade. Once we are done with all the final presentations we will start to wrap up our study of density with a quiz and a quick post test before we start our huge plate tectonics project.

In 8th grade students should have turned in their Permission to Publish forms and their Blog permission forms. Students need to complete the first Blog assignment. Students should have created computer drawings using Fireworks and students have learned how to create computer animations, and that’s what they’re working on now. By next week students will learn a new program to create even more sophisticated animations, Flash!

That’s it! Check my HW page to get more information on any of the above assignments and for links to many of them.
