[I sent this email yesterday to all the parents on of my current students, well all the parents whose email I have.]
Hello Students and Families,
You are getting this email because you have a child who has me for either 6th grade Science, 8th grade Science or Eagle Time or a combination of those. If you wish to be removed from this email list please let me know.
For those of you who don’t me I’m Al Gonzalez and I’ve been teaching 6-8 Science here at CMS for a while now. As we approach the midterm and parent-teacher-student conferences on Oct 28 and 29 I thought I’d send out an email. If you know of someone who didn’t get this and should please let them know. I your emails from Skyward and for some this is the first time I’m trying your email out. I hope this gets to everyone.
I have a little over 130 students this year and I see them everyday so if you see me introduce yourself and tell me who your child is so I know who I’m talking to :o)
If you want to know how your child is doing in Science dropping me an email works well for me. You can also call the middle school office at 732-4219 to leave me a message. You can also send a note with your child or you can text me or leave me a voicemail at 360-453-7021.
Another way to find out what’s going in Science class is to use my website: http://educatoral.com/
This the class website students use every time they are on a computer so it might be helpful if your child needs to miss Science: http://www.educatoral.com/moodle/
And the Homework/Daily Work section of my website details what we do everyday with links to documents and websites we’re using in class: http://www.educatoral.com/hw.html
Visit our class blog so you can bookmark your child’s webpage and leave him or her comments and he or she blogs about Science: http://mrgonzalez.org/
And here’s a link to my blog if you’re interested in education or Science or techy type stuff (I also put class stuff and important dates there too as well as the HW page): http://www.educatoral.com/wordpress/
Soon I’ll be sending home a progress report as well as place an electronic copy of it online so I’ll send you that link later when it’s ready.
There’s a lot to keep track of here. If you would prefer to have notifications of updates to what’s going on in Science consider using RSS. It’s a way to keep track of updates to websites as they happen instead of visiting the websites regularly to see if anything’s changed. Here’s a video I put together last year explaining how to get started with RSS: http://educatoral.com/GsCast/Podcast/Entries/2009/8/31_Adding_RSS_Feeds.html
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for taking the time to read this (especially if you got this far!).
