I just heard of these FREE STEM video lessons from Dr. Erica Saint Clair. She has been running free online Science classes, and starting next week the online video classes have a Harry Potter theme! Sounds like so much fun!
The Harry Potter series starts this Monday, May 4, as Week 8 of the Homeschool STEM series. All of the videos will go live at 11:30 M-F on Youtube and will be accessible thereafter (click here to go to the YouTube Channel).
Here’s the schedule for next week:
Monday: The Time Teller (Chemistry)
Activity: Mix up a chemical clock
Step into potion’s class as we build a visual clock to give us a warning before the Polyjuice potion wears off.
Tuesday: Dementor’s Kiss (Chemistry)
Activity: Find out the chemical power of your breath
Learn about ocean acidification and see it in action using our breath.
Wednesday: Honeyduke’s Fudge Fliers (Engineering)
Activity: Build an edible slingshot game
Mock up a new way to change potential energy into kinetic energy – a slingshot! We will build a fun little system to bring Honeyduke’s Fudge Flies (aka chocolate chips) to life!
Thursday: Golden Snitch (Physics/Engineering)
Activity: Build a catapult game. Try your hand at a tabletop version of a streamlined Quidditch game in this physics and engineering building project.
Friday: LED Sorting hat (Paper Circuits)
Activity: Build a Sorting Hat for your familiy and friends.
Get ready for a favorite activity at Hogwarts – sorting! Learn about the power of parallel circuits as we wire up a hat you can use to sort your friends.
