Fortnite in Science Class?

ScIC6 Science is Cool Image

On July 29, 2021, PocketLab hosted the ScIC6 Science is Cool Unconference that focused on esports and game-based learning (GBL)! On Dec 31, 2020 I wrote about a contest for teachers to submit lessons incorporating Fortnite Creative hosted by Epic Games and about the lesson plan that I submitted that got second place! Because of that lesson, Steve Isaacs (@mr_isaacs) invited me to join him on his ScIC6 Epic Games sessions using Fortnite in the Science Classroom! It was SO cool! After watching various workshops with Steve and connecting with Steve on Twitter and Facebook I got the chance to be on a session with him! I wish it had been face-to-face but I was just happy to get to work with Steve because he’s not only awesome, he’s also an incredibly kind and generous person.

Clicking on the image below (or clicking here) will take you to the Epic Games website featuring the lesson I wrote (which they made look good!). How cool to see my lesson actually featured on Epic Games!

The Scientific Method with Fortnite

Here’s a short description of the lesson:

So that’s just one way you can use Fortnite in the Science classroom! Check out the Epics Games lesson plans webpage to find lesson plans for any subject using Fortnite or Twin Motion for amazing and motivating opportunities to have kids learning and creating in 3D environments.
