Computers II

This class is project-based and students will be working in cooperative teams. We will be learning how to create educational websites. Part of students' grade in this class will come filling out their planner daily and being on-task without disrupting the class. It is very difficult to fail this exploratory but if students do not work on their projects with their team (some students prefer to socialize instead of work), they can receive a D or an F in Computers 2. This really should be a fun course where students learn valuable skills that are needed in today's high-tech world. The skills that students learn in this class will also help them create their very own electronic portfolio when they enter high school next year.

In this class, students will learn all aspects of web design from optimizing graphics to storyboarding their ideas. Students will use different HTML editors and graphics programs to create their websites. We will use school email to communicate with each other and to ask webmasters for permission to use pictures from their websites. No web-based or home email accounts such as Juno or HotMail are allowed in school.

This class meets everyday either during 1st or 6th period in room 408 and parents are welcome to visit or drop by anytime. Parents need to sign this sheet stating that they have read and agree with the above and this sheet must be returned to me tomorrow.

The back of this sheet must be signed by you and your child to allow your child to publish work on the web. Students can publish work on the web without placing their picture on the web if you so desire. Just mention that on the back of this sheet.

Thank you.
