Monday -
At the
beginning of C and at the end of D block,
Marilyn Sterbick will begin her 15 week
Second
Step
program. Second
Step
is a violence prevention program that is a
wonderful opportunity for our 6th graders.
Afterward,
students will work together to
peer
edit
their first drafts. They will begin rewriting
their letters today and finish for
homework.
HW -
Finish the second drafts for homework. and get
the Second Step letter signed These are due
first thing Wednesday.
Wednesday -
I will
collect everyone's Second Draft
today.
We will
then watch two short videos, Earthquakes
and Volcanoes and Plate Tectonics:
The Puzzle of the Continents.
HW -
Finish the second drafts if it wasn't turned in
today (5 pts off each science day it is
late).
Friday -
We
will begin today by scoring
the final drafts. Students need to practice
scoring with rubrics
so that they will understand the entire process
and become better writers.
Today
students will begin to prepare their PowerPoint
presentations using the data they collected when
writing their letters to the Governor. The
scenario is that the volcanology teams were
selected by the Governor to present their
findings at Olympia to the Legislature.

as long as the Second Draft is turned
in.
