Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 8, 3/21 to 3/25

Math Monday - Since we are behind in science, we will do science instead of math today. Finish editing movies. We will put all the movies together to create one single DVD that will go out to other schools to share what we have done/learned. HW - None Tuesday - Students will take a Covering & Surrounding Investigations 1 - 4 review quiz. HW - None Wednesday - I will have a substitute this morning and tomorrow morning while I work with Ms. Langston to develop our upcoming Canada project. Students will have time this morning to complete the first half of their math binder check (I told them they were going to do this yesterday so they can't say that I didn't warn them). Then students will review calculating area by completing a Study Guide 4-7 and a Practice Worksheet 4-7. HW - Finish anything you did not finish in class and turn it in tomorrow. Thursday - Today students will work with the sub doing more area and perimeter practice. This evening I will attend another Hood Canal Youth Summit planning meeting. I am trying to get funds to pay for our bus trip to Fort Flagler! HW - Students need to fix the questions they got wrong on the Covering & Surrounding Inv 1-4 quiz. They only have until early next week to fix this quiz because I have to have grades done before Spring Break! Friday - I will have a sub today so that I can go to another science training. HW - None Future plans: After reviewing area and perimeter we will continue working on Covering & Surrounding by working on Investigation 5 next week. We need to finish Investigations 5, 6 and 7 quickly so that we can start the next book, Bits and Pieces I.

Science Monday - Today we will have the Science ITBS test. HW - None Tuesday - Students are still working on their water quality movies. Students also learned how to link their short movie clips to their website. HW - None Wednesday - Continue working on the water quality movies and/or the water quality websites. HW - None Thursday - Project Alert with Heidi Dodd. HW - Do the Parent/Guardian Interview: Peer Pressure sheet. Friday - Students need to finish their Panama Canal activity brochures today. Monday I will print out the best and most complete ones. HW - None Future plans: By the end of the quarter students need to finish their movies, update their websites and upload their websites. Once all the movies are finished, we will burn a DVD to send to other schools.

Language Arts Monday - Today during 2nd period we will have the ITBS Social Studies test. HW - None Tuesday - We took language arts time to finish the math quiz. We had an assembly today and that disrupted our schedule as well. HW - Complete this week's reading log. You can make up any previous week's log by just reading extra. Wednesday - Today students will practice finding the theme of an essay with the substitute. This is our study of the writing trait of Ideas. HW - Finish whatever you did not finish in class and turn it in tomorrow. Thursday - Today students will work on Organization, specifically paragraph development. HW - Finish whatever you did not finish in class and turn it in tomorrow. Friday - Today students will work on Organization, specifically transitions. HW - Finish whatever you did not finish in class and turn it in tomorrow. Future plans: We will be learning how to write using Ideas, Organization, and Word Choice. These are the three traits we are focusing on this year and we have been and will continue to score essays on those three traits.

Social Studies Monday - Students are starting the brochure phase of our Panama Canal activity. HW - None Tuesday - We didn't have time to social studies today because math took so long. HW - None Wednesday - Students are still working on the Panama Canal activity brochure phase. HW - None Thursday - Students are still working on the Panama Canal activity brochure phase. HW - None Friday - Library day! HW - Have a great Easter everyone! Future plans: I am planning a project to study Canada. Once we are done studying the Panama Canal, we will begin studying Canada.
