Start checking your 3rd Trimester grades here!

Some 6th and 7th graders are falling behind on their blogging homework. Students need to keep up with their blogging assignments, which is why I have it assigned as homework every night (those who do it won't have it as homework every night, though). The homework is affecting their grade in Science!

Daily Schedule
1st per - 7:35am to 8:37am
2nd per - 8:41am to 9:33am
3rd per - 9:37am to 10:29am
Eagle Time - 10:33am to 11:00am
Lunch - 11:00am to 11:32am
4th per - 11:36am to 12:28pm
5th per - 12:32pm to 1:24pm
6th per - 1:28pm to 2:20pm

6th grade Science:

Monday - Today we finished Inquiry 6.1 where students tested different surface types to determine their friction force coefficient. (We slid a block across five different surfaces to see which ones required more friction force measured in Newtons).

HW - Blog

Tuesday - Today I will see 1st and 2nd period but not my 6th period due to the WASL schedule. Today we will work on Inquiry 6.2 by changing the load (adding weight) to the block to see how that affects the friction force.

HW - Blog

Wednesday - Inquiry 6.2 continued (6th period will start 6.2 today).

Thursday - Today I won't see 1st and 2nd period so 6th period gets to catch up.

HW - Blog

Friday - Today all 6th graders will start working on Inquiry 6.3 to see how surface area affects the friction force when sliding a block of wood on different surfaces.

7th grade Science:

Monday - Today we checked our milkweed seeds and started our second set of seeds by putting them in wet paper towels. Students are working on their second lab write-up, which should look a lot like their first lab write-up from last week.

HW - Blog

Tuesday - Today I will see period 4 and not period 5 due to our WASL schedule.

We will start by checking our seeds, then students will continue to work on their second lab write-up.

Wednesday - Today I will see period 5 and not period 4 due to our WASL schedule.

We will start by checking our seeds, then students will continue to work on their second lab write-up. If we have time we will start our Great Earth Day Carpool project. We are going to count all the cars in the parking lot. Then we will put notices in the HS and MS bulletin encouraging those who drive to carpool on Earth Day when we will count cars in the parking lot again hoping the numbers go down.

We counted 178 cars today.

Thursday - We will check our seeds and maybe even start planting today. Well, we were going to do that. We were also going to count cars in the parking lot. Amazingly enough I couldn't get 4th period students to be quiet long enough to explain anything. So we worked on the Chapter 10 assessment in the Life Science textbook.

Friday - Fifth period will continue to work on their planting labs. They also got to setup a little habitat for the brassica butterfly. They should be emerging by next week.

Fourth period needs to count cars in the parking lot today. We will average today's count with Wednesday's count. If they can listen, that is. So if they do listen we'll also check our seeds.
