Check 3rd Trimester Midterm grades here!

Some 6th and 7th graders are falling behind on their blogging homework. Students need to keep up with their blogging assignments, which is why I have it assigned as homework every night (those who do it won't have it as homework every night, though). The homework is affecting their grade in Science! Friday, May 2, is the midterm and I will give all students a paper copy of their progress report on Tuesday, May 6, at the latest.

Daily Schedule
1st per - 7:35am to 8:37am
2nd per - 8:41am to 9:33am
3rd per - 9:37am to 10:29am
Eagle Time - 10:33am to 11:00am
Lunch - 11:00am to 11:32am
4th per - 11:36am to 12:28pm
5th per - 12:32pm to 1:24pm
6th per - 1:28pm to 2:20pm

6th grade Science:

Monday - We will start by reviewing lesson 6. Students who don't finish any part of lesson 6 today need to download my lesson 6 guide and complete it at home.

Then we will change seats to start new teams. Today new teams will start to work on Lesson 7 - The Force Exerted by a Motor. I will introduce the lab as students work on their own with the Inquiry Boards to brainstorm variables and choose variables to find out how many washers our motors can lift.

HW - Blog and here is a copy of what you need to have from all of Lesson 6 in your notebook.

Tuesday - Today we finished brainstorming all the variables we could manipulate. Then each table chose which one variable they wanted to manipulate for their experiment and all the other variables became our controls. Then we began our lab write-up by recording our variables and by writing our Problem and Hypotheses.

Wednesday - Today we will work on our procedure. Once teams have their procedure written and a table ready then they can start their experiment.

HW - Blog

Thursday - Finish procedure and/or conduct experiment.

HW - Blog

Friday - By today most if not all teams should be done with their experiments. If not we will take time to finish. If they are done we will graph the data and write conclusions.

7th grade Science:

Monday - Friday - This week we are going to settle into our routine.

  1. We will check our plant experiments. Once the sprouts are ready students will transplant them to begin collecting data.
  2. While checking plant experiments students can observe the butterflies in their habitat to see how butterfly and plant exist together.
  3. Most students are finished with their global warming sheet using the following website. Once everyone is done we will be watching An Inconvenient Truth filling out a study guide sheet as we watch.
  4. Then we will do some other activities using the resource website.

HW - Blog and bring rocks or gravel for hydroponic garden pots (to keep them from floating). Only one person brought some last week and we need many more.
