Check 3rd Trimester Midterm grades here!

I will be handing out paper copies of progress reports on Tuesday, May 6.

Some 6th and 7th graders are falling behind on their blogging homework. Students need to keep up with their blogging assignments, which is why I have it assigned as homework every night (those who do it won't have it as homework every night, though). The homework is affecting their grade in Science!

6th grade Science:

Monday - Today most teams will finish their Lesson 7 labs by collecting some more data so they can graph their data and write their conclusions. Student teams will also share their data and graphs with the rest of the class.

Tuesday - We had some great data sharing yesterday! Today students will work on their conclusions for lesson 7. We also looked at how much force the motor actually exerts with the best combination possible (three D-cell batteries, connected in series, string tied to the center of the nail, and using the shortest circuit possible).

First period is actually going to be one day behind 2nd and 6th periods because they chose to watch the first act of the high school play this morning.

HW - Blog and here are most of Lesson 7 lab write-ups for students who missed any part of it:

Per 1
Per 2
Per 6

Wednesday - Today we are going to wrap up lesson 7 with some reflection questions.

HW - Blog on what you learned from lesson 7 and about our water quality project for our blog pals in Canada.

Thursday - Today 1st period is going to score 2nd period's lesson 7 lab write-up, 2nd period will score 6th period's lab write-up and 6th period will score 1st period's using the following scoring rubric.

Friday - Today we will start lesson 8 where students will learn about Work. Yeah, they don't know everything about Work :o)

7th grade Science:

Monday - Friday - This week we are going to settle into our routine.

  1. We will check our plant experiments. Once the sprouts are ready students will transplant them to begin collecting data.
  2. While checking plant experiments students can observe the butterflies in their habitat to see how butterfly and plant exist together.
  3. Most students are finished with their global warming sheet using the following website. Once everyone is done we will be watching An Inconvenient Truth filling out a study guide sheet as we watch.
  4. Then we will do some other activities using the resource website.
  5. By Tuesday 5th period will be done watching the film and filling out their study guide sheets. At that point we will start working through some activities related to the film and global warming. Fourth period should be done with the film by Wednesday.
