6th grade Science:

Monday - Today students will begin the Mt Saint Helens part of the MSH/Volcanoes Project. Students will be looking at and sketching a pictorial timeline of Mt Saint Helens's lava dome since the eruptions of Oct 2004!

HW - None, unless you haven't done last week's blog HW assignments OR if you haven't finished the five volcano and four lava types for homework this past weekend.

Tuesday - Today students will complete their Mt Saint Helens sketches.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today students will watch a 23 minute movie I pieced together from videos I found to review all we've learned. Then students got time to complete all 12 of their Mt Saint Helens sketches. Sixth period did not get any time as it took us all period to watch the movie due to the caliber of excellent questions.

HW - None

Thursday -Today students will take a short assessment probe on the Mt Saint Helens lava dome. Then we will start our Water Quality Project by watching videos that 6th graders have made about this project. I will share the jobs that are available this year for students so they can choose what they want to study and so that I can make their new teams.

HW - None

Friday - Today students will get their new team placements and jobs so that they can begin a freshwater pollution webquest.

HW - Those who have not completed their Blogging homework, or their volcano or lava drawings/descriptions, or their Mt Saint Helens sketches have homework this weekend!

7/8 grade Science:

Monday - This week 7th graders will again be working on long boat activities Monday through Thursday and I will have all 8th graders again.

Today 8th graders used their notes from two weeks ago to begin creating their debate PowerPoint presentations.

HW - None, unless you haven't done last week's blog HW assignments.

Tuesday - Eighth graders will continue to work on their Global Warming debate PowerPoints today.

HW - None

Wednesday - Everyone is still working on their PowerPoints today.

HW - None

Thursday - Today we will listen to as many debates as we can.

HW - None

Friday - Today the 7th graders will join us again. Long boat activities will resume in the Spring so we will be moving right along now.

I will be having students work on an assessment probe about heat. I'm giving it early because this is a question that our Chimacum Science team is investigating. When we start studying heat I will give this assessment, or a similar one, to see if students ideas change.

Then students will have time to look through their biome research and add anything they need to be able to start preparing for their podcasting next week.

HW - Those who have not completed their Blogging homework, or are far behind on their biome notes (or 8th graders who didn't get their Global Warming notes done) have homework this weekend.
