6th grade Science:

Monday - Today is a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. - No School.

HW - None

Tuesday - This week students will continue to work on making PowerPoint presentations to share what they've learned about water quality with their classmates. Each team will present on the three jobs they were responsible for including the data they collected and conclusions about the overall health of Chimacum Creek.

HW - None

Wednesday - First and third periods will be preparing notecards. I will give them and go over this sheet to help them make their notecards. We will also go over an oral presentation rubric so that students learn how to present.

Then students can continue working on their PowerPoint or preparing for their presentation.

I won't be here for 6th period so they will have the entire period to work on their presentations.

HW - Prepare for your presentation as needed. We might be able to start presenting tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

Thursday - Today I will go over this sheet to help my 6th period class make their notecards. We will also go over an oral presentation rubric so that students learn how to present.

First and third periods are still working on their presentations. By today some teams should be ready to make their notecards.

HW - If you are not ready, then take your work home to get ready. You can also make your notecards at home if you didn't have time in class. Using a flash drive is quite helpful. Take your notes home if all you have to do is finish your notecards.

Friday - Today student teams will have some time to finish up their PowerPoints and get mentally prepared to present.

We have the order for next week's presentations.

For the three classes the order is as follows:

Per 1 - G6, G7, G8, G9, G10, G1, G2, G3, G4 then G5.
Per 3 - G10, G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6, G7, G8 then G9.
Per 6 - G7, G8, G9, G10, G1, G2, G3, G4, G5 then G6.

We should be able to get through two to three groups in one period so for all teams to present it should take most of the week.

HW - None if you've already presented or if you are completely prepared.

7/8 grade Science:

Monday -Today is a day of service in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. - No School.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today students will get a little bit of time to complete their conclusions. Then teams will share their graphs and results before students score each other's labs. Here is a copy of the inquiry boards students use to structure and write their lab. And here is a copy of the scoring rubric we use to score each other's labs.

HW - None, unless your lab is incomplete.

Wednesday - Second period will view a heat and expansion demo while they answer the following questions.

Then they will have time to work on any homework blogs or glogs they still need to get done.

I will not be here for 4th period so they will work on Ch 17, section 4, pages 583 to 589, answering the questions on page 589.

HW - Finish your lab if you need to or finish your blogs and/or glogs if you need to.

Thursday - Today 4th period will view a heat and expansion demo while they answer the following questions. I will also start them on the first part of the How Temp Affects Density demos.

Second period will view more demos which will show how temperature affects the density of water. They will use the following packet to write about what they are learning.

HW - Depends on what you have yet to complete. Check my online progress report to see what you're missing. Email me if you need your password or something.

Friday - Second period will finish going over the How Temp Affects Density questions from yesterday. Then I will assess them on convective heat transfer. We will discuss what students wrote for their answers.

Fourth period needs to view the final How Temp Affects Density demo. Then we will go over the questions.

HW - None if you're all caught up.
