6th grade Science:

Monday - Today students will continue to work on the note-taking phase of the water pollution webquest. Those using the desktop computers and the netbooks will have access to the ReadOutLoud software, which helps organize the notes as well as reads the websites out loud to students. There are enough headphones to make it easy to concentrate.

Tuesday - Today students continued working on their water pollution webquest. Teams are splitting up the questions to answer them. Once done answering their questions they'll get back together to polish their work into one, informational document!

8th grade Science:

Monday - Today we will review where oil comes from. Then we will read some Gulf Oil Spill articles and have a class discussion using a Ning forum I created.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today 8th graders finished leaving replies on the Ning forum. Then they worked on their Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill blogging assignment, which needs to have either pictures off the Internet or an embedded YouTube video.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today we will go over leaving comments so they can start commenting on each other's blog posts. First students will leave comments on their classmates from the other class, then they will leave comments on blogs from students in other classes (they do this so that other students will read their work and give them feedback).

HW - None

Thursday - Students are still working on the following:

  1. Few are still adding topics or responding to our Ning forum. There are some great answers there showing all that students learned about the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill.
  2. There are still students who need to complete their Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill blogging assignment.
  3. Students are also working on leaving comments on each other's blogs. Once they leave each other comments they are going to visit blogs of students in other schools, sometimes even other countries, to leave them comments. By reading their blogs and leaving comments we are hoping to get a greater audience to read our work. This is an exciting way to learn in the 21st century.

HW - None

Friday - Today students will work on finishing items 2 and 3 from yesterday's agenda.

HW - None
