6th grade Science:

Monday - Note: I have 6th grade Science 1st, 5th, and 6th periods. The way that is working out is that I start the day's lesson with 5th and 6th period so that means 1st period will usually be one day behind. I wanted to mention that so that parents don't get upset if their 1st period child seems one day behind! Sorry for the confusion.

Today we will work on Energy, Machines, and Motion lesson 3, the Rechargeable Battery. (Period 1 is doing last week's Friday activity, finishing lesson 2.

Tuesday - Today we will finish lesson 3. Once everyone finishes the lab students will answer the reflection questions.

Students will also get more time to work on the blogging challenge.

Wednesday - Today students will finish the reflection questions. Then we will go over the answers so that students can complete their lesson 3 blog assignment and this week's blogging challenge.

Thursday - Today we finished the lesson 3 blog assignment. Then we started lesson 4 on battery charging times.

Friday - Today we will work on lesson 4.

8th grade Science:

Monday - Today students will continue working on their plant science fair projects. Last week most of the teams in both classes started their experiments. The research component of their projects are moving a bit slower than I expected. I thought they would be done with their research last week since they had the entire week to work on it.

Tuesday - Today, after students check their experiments and take some measurements, we will do an activity on food miles and carbon footprints. Ask your child about it.

Wednesday - Today, after students check their experiments and take some measurements, students will get some information about next year in high by the middle school and the high school counselors.

If there is time we will go over yesterday's results from the food miles activity.

Thursday - Today, after students take their plant measurements and collect their data, students will conclude the food miles activity by sharing what they learned in a Food Miles Blog.

Then teams will get back to work on their plant research as they prepare their presentations to share what they've learned with their classmates.

Friday - Today teams will check their experiments and collect data. Then they will get their research done so they can start putting together their presentations for next week.
