Macroveliidae are found throughout the western U.S., mostly
in the Southwest, but are not commonly collected in samples. They tend
to live on moss, organic debris, or other plants near springs
and streams as their name suggests. They are not aquatic.
They have very long prominent antennae,
and the front legs have apical claws. Their body is compact, and their wingtips
lack veins. The legs are long but lack any stout spines on
the femur. |
