Educators Connecting

I’m a little slow sometimes. I may even be days to weeks behind when things are trending on Twitter or Google Plus. I have to admit that I came a little late to Connected Educators Month! I attended a webinar and am starting to join in some of the many activities there are to choose from. I just found out from Paula Naugle about @ConnectedEd when it was her turn to take it over. What’s going on is that different people are each taking over @ConnectedEd for one day. So what I did was visit the site where all those people are listed and followed them on Twitter thereby adding a whole bunch of new connections to my PLN! Pretty cool group of people too. So if you’re looking for new connections to make visit that site for a whole bunch of new folks to follow if you’re not following them already.

I wrote an email to all the staff in my district (we’re a small district) titled: Staying Connected (21st Century Skills) where I said,

Hello everyone,

I have some awesome resources to share about being a Connected Educator. Did you know that August is Connected Educator Month?

I’ve attached an incredible starter kit pdf file from this site (It’s a comprehensive guide on how to become a connected educator.):

Here’s a website with Connected Educator Month activities:

Here’s a resource I made for blogging and using twitter to become connected:

And if you’re interested in the work that the District Tech Committee is doing, especially since our District Tech Plan goes to 2013 and we need to work on it again, stay connected and/or give your input here:

Keep enjoying your summer everyone!

Note: I sent that email out on the 4th. It’s now the 6th and I’ve only heard back from one person. Even though we’re a small district (around 70 staff grades pre-K to 12) I still expected a few more people to be connected. I just can’t stand being dis-connected during summer!
