Mr. González' Classes Homework/ Daily Activities Week 10, 1/24 to 1/28

Math Monday - Today we will go over the divisibility rules sheets and continue working on prime factorization. We also worked on problem 5.3. I led kids through it but if they didn't finish, they should finish at home before the test. HW - Finish any of the sheets (Study Guides 6-1 and 6-2, and Practice Guides 6-1 and 6-2) if you have not already done so. The special number unit project (p. 5 in the Prime Time book) is due Wednesday! Tuesday - Today we will go over the study guides and practice worksheets. I also reviewed with students the things that are going to be on the test so that they know what to practice at home. HW - The special number unit project (p. 5 of Prime Time book) is due tomorrow! And make sure to study for the test tomorrow! Wednesday - The special number unit project is due today, and we will have our Prime Time final test today. HW - None Thursday - Guest teachers today. Kassi and Jeannie will lead us in some wonderful math activities so that I can be a student for the day (this class raised over $89 for tsunami victims so that I could be a student for a day so I'm giving them just that). HW - Students were given handouts which I will give extra credit for if anyone did it. Friday - Binder check for Prime Time! HW - None

Science Monday - Today we will work on the water quality storyboards and websites. On the button bar at the left, click on Student Work to see the water quality webites of former 6th grade students. HW - None Tuesday - Today we will work on the water quality storyboards and websites. HW - None Wednesday - All student teams should be done with the storyboarding phase and should be working on their websites. On the button bar at the left, click on Student Work to see the water quality webites of former 6th grade students. HW - Thursday - Guest teachers today. Chloe and Cali will lead us through a lesson on fossils. The teachers brought in homemade clay so that we could make our own fossil imprints from leaves or feathers. HW - They did a wonderful lesson with a study guide sheet. Anyone who turns in their study guide sheet will get extra credit in science. Friday - All student teams should be done with the storyboarding phase and should be working on their websites. HW - None

Language Arts Monday - Today we will take a Learning Styles Inventory survey. Once scored, these will provide each child a detailed chart of where his or her strenghts lie. HW - None Tuesday - Today we will continue to work on researching. Students will work on their own research topic. using the The Research Organizer to accomplish this task along with the Cyberguide Rating Form (a pdf file) to evaluate the resource(s) used to get the information. Here are the deadlines: Big6 #1 (the questions): Fri, 1/21/05 Notes: Wed, 1/26/05 First Draft: Fri, 1/28/05 Final Draft: Wed, 2/2/05 HW - None Wednesday - Today we will continue to work on Big6 research reports. HW - None Thursday - Today we will have guest teachers. Cali and Chloe will lead us through an Edgar Allan Poe story and a writing activity. HW - We heard part of a wonderful story, The Pit and the Pendulum, and did a quick write and shared. Friday - We worked on our Tsunami webpages because today is the last day to work on it (the quarter is over today). HW - None

Social Studies Monday - It took us a bit longer than I thought to finish the learning style surveys. They are sure worth it though and in a few weeks we'll have detailed information for each of my students on how they learn best! :o) HW - None Tuesday - Today we will have our weekly Second Step lesson. HW - Prepare for your presentation. Wednesday - Today we scored the PowerPoints using the following sheet. Then we watched a movie on Central America. HW - None Thursday - Today we will guest teachers. Natashia and Rachel will lead us through a lesson on map-making as we create our own island. HW - The lesson was great and those who turned in their islands got extra credit. Friday - Today is our library day. HW - None
