Math

Monday - Correct ACE #1, p. 13 and complete problem 1.2.

HW - ACE #'s 6-9, p. 14.

Tuesday - Today we will start problem 1.3.

HW - ACE #'s 2-5, p. 14

Wednesday - Finish and go over problem 1.3 and begin problem 1.4.

HW - ACE #'s 10-12, pp. 15 and 16.

Thursday - Finish problem 1.4.

HW - ACE #'s 14-18 pp. 16 and 17.

Friday - Correct this week's homework.

HW - None, unless you didn't finish your homework.

 

 

Science

Monday - Today we will work on the water quality websites. Ask your child about the Hood Canal Youth Summit (we will be attending that on June 2 to participate in a water quality day of sharing with other schools).

Thursday - We skipped science today to do some very important problem solving. We brainstormed our needs in class so that learning can happen. Then we came up with ways to meet those needs.

Language Arts

Monday - Today we will continue to work on Big6 research reports.

Here are the updated deadlines (it's taking longer than we anticipated):

  1. Big6 Steps 1-5: Mon, 1/31/05
  2. Notes: Fri, 2/4/05
  3. First Draft: Tues, 2/8/05
  4. Final Draft: Wed, 2/9/05

HW - Do some research and note-taking at home. This week's reading logs were sent home and they are due Friday.

Tuesday - Big6 research report first draft needs to be completed today.

HW - Finish your first draft.

Wednesday - Peer edit the first drafts of the Big6 research report and begin working on your second and final draft.

HW - Work on your final draft. It's due Friday!

Thursday - Students decided to make posters of the needs and solutions we brainstormed this morning so they worked on that today.

HW - Finish the final draft of your Big6 report today.

Friday - Turn in the final drafts and the reading logs! When turning in the final drafts for the Big6 research projects, staple all your work like this:

Today we will take a look at a great poem by Alfred Noyes, The Highwayman. Students will hear it, then they will be assigned different parts to memorize. The class will then read their memorized parts to hear the whole poem again.

Social Studies

Monday - Today students will do their final presentations for their Maya, Aztec or Inca webquest. We got through groups G5, G6 and G7.

HW - Practice and know your part if you have not presented already.

Tuesday - Today students will do their final presentations for their Maya, Aztec or Inca webquest. We got through groups G8, G9 and G10. We are done with the presentations!

HW - None

Wednesday - Today we will begin watching the Second Voyage of the Mimi, a great 12 part lesson on the Maya that ties in some wonderful science. We will start with episode #1 today.

HW - None

Thursday - Second Voyage of the Mimi episode #2.

HW - None

Friday - Today is our library day.

HW - None
