HW/Daily Activities

1st per - Exploratory - 7:45am to 8:37am
1st Block (Periods 2 & 3) - Science and/or Social Studies - 8:41am to 10:29am
Eagle Time: 10:33am to 11:00am
Lunch - 11:00am to 11:32am
4th per - Band/Choir - 11:36am to 12:28pm
2nd Block (Periods 5 & 6) - Science and/or Social Studies - 12:32pm to 2:20pm

Social Studies:

Tuesday - We will review cooperative team jobs as we begin our next project, Aztec, Maya, and Inca Webquest!
At some point either this week or next week I'd like to do the map studies culmination, which is having kids use the handheld GPS to create a real scavenger hunt/geocaching experience. I'd start by having the morning class hide things for the afternoon class and then maybe switch.
I introduced GPS's and geocaching today and we will start this activity on Thursday.
HW - None
Thursday - This week, today, my morning class will set up their waypoints and hide things for the afternoon class to find. By 5th period, or the beginning of 2nd block, my afternoon class will have 20 minutes to find as many of the 10 waypoints and geocaches as they can find.
Then we will continue to work on our Aztec, Maya, and Inca Webquest.
HW - None

Future plans: We will study the Aztecs, Maya, and Inca in preparation for Days of the Dead and Market Day.

Science:

Monday - Today we will review our Cooperative Team Jobs while we begin to learn and practice our Cooperative Team Reading Jobs.
We will do this as we start to conduct some research for our Volcanology Project.
HW - None
Wednesday - Today we will review our Cooperative Team Jobs while students continue to research volcanoes for their Volcanology Project.
Today is an early release day and our blocks are barely an hour long. Students will be dissmissed at 11:20am.
Also today Marilyn Sterbick, our counselor, is starting her 12 week Second Step violence prevention program. She will be coming in to both our classes (both together) every Wednesday during 5th period.
HW - Due tomorrow, Second Step letter. Read it with parents and have a parent sign it.
Friday - I will have a sub today as I head off to a conference on service learning as part of my Learn & Serve America grant.
Today students will continue to work on their Volcanology Project.
HW - None

Future plans: We will fulfill our Earth Science Grade Level Expectations (GLE's) by conducting our volcano project and our plate tectonics project.
