Social Studies:

Monday - We will continue to work on our Latin American project.

Most teams are working on Phase 2 already while planning what they will do at the Market Day event.

HW - Make your market crafts and food.

Use the progress report I handed out today to make sure you're getting off to a great start this trimester.

Tuesday - We will continue to work on our Latin American project during 2nd and 3rd periods.

I explained our Class Blog to students today and I handed out an information and permission sheet for parents. I'd like students to start blogging on our site this Winter Break (it's all educational!).

Along with the food licenses that teams paid for I included a Food Preparation Fact File to insure that all the food sold at our Market Day event will be safe.

My 5th and 6th period block class will go through Day 4 of the yo-yo unit as we collect baseline data in preparation for the Spin Wars.

HW - Make your market crafts and food.

Show your parents our Blog Info Letter and return it this week signed!

Thursday - Today will be our Market Day from 8:30am to about 10:15am!

In the afternoon, we looked at the pictures I took of all the booths with my 5/6 block during 5th period and with my 2/3 block during 6th period. After Winter Break students will work on any part of the Latin American project they need to finish.

HW - None, we had an excellent Market Day event! Thank you to the parents who joined us!

Science:

Wednesday - Today we will go through Day 4 of the yo-yo unit as we collect baseline data in preparation for the Spin Wars.

My lesson study team will be joining us today for 2nd and 3rd period to observe this lesson. Then we will meet to debrief the lesson and plan to have another teacher do the same lesson as part of the same unit as we make any changes needed to make it better. For the rest of the day, while I am meeting with my lesson study team, I will have a substitute. During 5th period kids will have Second Step and 6th period kids will be working on the Latin American project for Market Day (well, really they'll be making their signs for their booths and planning what to bring tomorrow - I'm hoping most teams, if not all, already have a plan and have been working on it!).

Along with the food licenses that teams paid for I included a Food Preparation Fact File to insure that all the food sold at our Market Day event will be safe.

HW - Get all the items you need for Market Day tomorrow (crock pots, electric pans, microwaves, boom boxes, extension cords, surge protectors, crafts, food, napkins, utensils, plates and/or bowls, etc)! Remember that it's first thing in the morning and invite your parents.

Friday - Today we will conclude our Yo-yo unit with Day 5 as we have our Spin Wars. First we will need to conclude the Day 4 lesson.

HW - None, have a great Winter Break!
