6th grade Science:

Monday - Today I gave students the opportunity to earn an A grade on their Mt Saint Helens Cispus Journal pages. I created a Mt Saint Helens website just for this purpose.

HW - I collected the Cispus Journals today, graded the Mt Saint Helens sections, and returned the journals to the home room teachers.

Tuesday - Today students began to work on the Mt Saint Helens Activity, the section where they are to sketch seven different views, from seven different months, of the lava dome. This will be evidence they are collecting to conclude what they think will happen with the lava dome in the next hundred years or so.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today we will try to finish the Mt Saint Helens Activity. Once students finish their sketching, they will begin the Mt Saint Helens Scavenger Hunt.

HW - None

Thursday - We will continue to work on the Mt Saint Helens Scavenger Hunt. Some teams in each class are still wrapping up their Mt Saint Helens Activity.

HW - None

Friday - We will try and finish the Mt Saint Helens Scavenger Hunt today and on Monday.

HW - None

7th grade Science:

Monday - Today we reviewed items from topographic maps. Thursday students will have a test on topographic maps to see how well they understand them.

We went over vocabulary such as relief, slope and contour lines. We also discussed what it means when contour lines are close together vs farther apart, as well as what it means when contour lines make V's heading uphill and downhill. Kids are getting better at seeing which direction rivers and streams flow on topographic maps. Students made observations and took notes. Students will be able to use these notes on their test.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today students will share their observations with each other using whiteboards.

Then we will begin a new Earth Science unit by observing elevations on our planet using 3-D maps!

HW - None

Wednesday - We will continue making observations about our planet using our 3-D maps.

HW - None

Thursday - Today students shared their observations about the difference in elevations between the continents and the ocean basins (ocean floor) along with their inferences about why the differences in elevations are so.

HW - None

Friday - We need to finish sharing our observations and inferences from yesterday.

Then we will have another review for our Topographic Maps test. After that we will take the test!

HW - None

8th grade Computers:

Monday - Today students will start learning how to use Flash to create different types of computer animations.

HW - Keep blogging, I will add the second blog assignment soon.

Tuesday - Flash lessons continued.

HW - Same as Monday.

Wednesday - Flash lessons continued.

Today I showed a few students how to add a motion guide to make curved motion tweens!

HW - Same as Monday.

Thursday - Flash lessons continued. I showed how to add a motion guide to make curved motion tweens again.

HW - Same as Monday.

Friday - Flash lessons continued.
