Last Day of Trimester Nov 29

Mr. G SimpsonizedAs the end of the Trimester approaches all 6th graders are done testing all seven Hood Canal sites. Sixth graders are busy conducting research to learn about their water quality jobs and about salmon life cycle and more about pollution. After Thanksgiving they will start putting together PowerPoint presentations to teach their classmates what they’ve learned and to share their data.

Seventh graders are still completing their Plant ID websites as I continue to upload them. They are also working on the Plant Webquest. With the winds we’ve been having our greenhouse took a hit and got blown all over campus. I need to find a way to anchor it down before we can start storing our plants in there. So it might be a while before we start planting. We’ll see, I’m looking for other classrooms to store them in so we can start this month. Either way we will start learning about cells once we’re all done learning about plants.

As I grade notes and websites and webquests I will try to have progress reports ready for all students by Monday, Nov 26. Once students get their progress reports they will have very little time to fix or finish anything that is still due before the trimester ends on Nov 29. If you or your child are not sure of what is missing please come in and let’s look through your child’s notebook. I have told students what they need to have done and have asked them to see me if they are not sure if their work is complete or up to par. I can’t touch bases with all 120 students so they really need to see me if they are concerned. Otherwise, I will not know they are behind or flunking until I get to their notebook and have already put a grade in my gradebook. As the end of the trimester approaches that might be too late!
